Stressing the need to build united strength of the people, MLA Dr Kh Ratankumar said otherwise it will be difficult to bring an end to the chaotic situation prevailing in the state.
Addressing as chief guest at the 13th foundation day celebration of the International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound the MLA said that Manipur is in a crisis stage and people, mostly women and children have been victims of conflicts that have been prevailing for a long period of time.
To bring an end to the prevailing chaos, the role of civil societies is very important.
Further, the role of women bodies is even more important, observed the chief guest recognizing the role women of the state at the international level.
He said women of other places have started imitating the role model of the women of the state.
Ratankumar opined if civil societies stand united on any common issue, the state could march forward.
NIPCO president Khuplar Kom asserted that, many civil organizations are being floated in the state based on individualism.
If a civil society has an ideology to serve the people, individualism needs to be left behind he said.
Double standard policies of the government have thrown the people into the jaws of the prevailing chaotic situation, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, president UCM who also delivered a speech strongly criticised the government of instigating disunity among the civil societies.
He said government is functioning only in the interest of some communities.
In such a situation, civil societies need to work together, he said.
He also stressed on the need to extend the inner-line permit system in the state so that indigenous people of the region can be saved from extinction.
Presidents of Nupi Samaj and Senior Citizens for Society, Taruni and N Binoy also delivered speeches on the occasion presided over by Ch Lasker, president of IPSA.
Vice president, Ch Sana attended as guest of honour.
A blood donation camp was also held in connection with the foundation of IPSA.
