As CBI agreeing that Sanjit and Rabina were killed in a fake encounter, Okram Ibobi should resign as Chief Minister taking moral responsibility of the wrong statement he had given in the House of the Assembly, the Manipur People Party demanded.
"I feel ashamed of Ibobi who is still in the chair as Chief Minister even though the CBI has exposed the fake encounter on July 23, 2009," MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang said speaking at a function held at Langmeidong Bazar in connection with the opening of Hiyangthang Kendra MPP office.
Chief Minister O Ibobi had given a contrasting statement to the floor of the House of the state Assembly regarding to the July 23, 2009 firing incident that killed Chungkham Sanjit and Thokchom Rabina apart from injuring five other people.
Now, that the truth the incident has been exposed by the CBI that CM was making a false statement on the incident.
He should resign on moral grounds as that he had misguided the people, he demanded.
Speaking as chief guest, Dr Nimaichand criticized the ruling Congress and the CPI in the state for the present turmoil in the state and said that they ought to be taught a lession in the upcoming Assembly election 2012. People should stand against them in the election and voted in favour of the MPP, the only regional political party actively working for the people of the state.
It would be the only way to root out these two ruling parties from the state, he said.
MLAs and ministers of the SPF government are engage in petty works of distribution of old age pensions, financial assistance to widows, and mosquito nets.
They are also engaged in contract works to amass wealth to investing in elections, he criticized adding that is a shameful act.
Other party leaders like former Speaker, S Dhananjoy, former MLA, S Natum, Sovakiran also attended the function.
