Organised by Hindi students of DM College of Arts, 'Hindi Divas' was celebrated this morning at the College with Burdwan university Professor (retd) Bimal, Head of Hindi Department (DMC Arts) Dr Kshetrimayum Pramila Devi and Principal (DMC Arts) Dr A Nungshitombi gracing the occasion as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
In his address, Prof Bimal recounted role played by Hindi in the independence movement of India apart from presenting a detailed account on ways and means to become meritorious students.
His comment on the role being played by women in the global context infused vigour and fresh fillip to the female students present at the occasion.
Hindi Department Reader Dr S Lanchenba elaborated on the benefits of pursuing academic excellence in the national language as well as its positive impact in strengthening sense of national integrity.
While the guest of honour Dr A nungshitombi stressed on the need for the students to concentrate on their studies inspite of hurdles they come across in pursuing academic excellence, Dr Ksh Pramila in her address as the functional president thoroughly deliberated on Hindi language and necessity for its development and expansion.
