Poppy plants destroyed, one arrested

Imphal, February 28 2023:
Senapati police arrested a 38-year old man in connection with illegal poppy cultivation on Tuesday.
The arrested man has been identified as RS Timson, son of R Ng Shill of Upper Kham-son village, Senapati district.
On the other hand, a joint team of Tamenglong district police, forest department, NAB and residents of Thengjang village destroyed poppy plants in around 40 acres of land under the jurisdiction of Thengjang village, Tamenglong district on Tuesday.
Huts used by poppy farmers were also burnt during the drive.
