Drawing attention to the dilapidated condition of Langathel Aided High School located at Langathel village under Wangjing Tentha AC, Kangleipak Apunba Lamjing Lup (KALL) Langathel has raised questions on the State Government's School Fagathansi Mission.
Speaking to media persons in this connection, Lenin Puyam, general secretary, KALL stated that Langathel Aided High School is the only school in the area for the poor residents of the village.
He said that the school does not have an adequate number of classrooms to accommodate the students from Class I to Class X.In this regard, he questioned if the poor villagers' only school does come under the purview of the Government's School Fagathansi Mission.

He called the Government's lack of attention on the run-down school unfortunate as the school has a large number of students.
The roughly 10,000 Scheduled Caste residents of the village are mostly daily wage earners and farmers and do not have the means to send their children to private schools far away from home, he maintained.
As such, he urged the Chief Minister and Education Minister to look into the matter and also appealed them to establish a Government school in the interest of the poor residents of the village.
Mayengbam Biseshwor, Headmaster, Langathel Aided High School also spoke to media persons and stated that the school currently has 413 students and 26 staff, comprising 23 teaching and 3 non-teaching staff.
He pointed out that every year the school receives awards for its notable performance among Government and aided schools in the Class X examination conducted by BOSEM.
He added that the achievement record of the school is available at the ZEO Office.
Further, he highlighted the issues faced by the school in providing mid-day meals to the students due to insufficient funds.
He shared that being an aided school, the school authority cannot charge any fees from students and the teachers contribute money to buy the necessary materials during examinations.
He further maintained that teachers have always used their own money to carry out school related activities and other works for the students.
As such, he sought the attention of the relevant authority to take up appropriate measures to develop the school.
