NETS condemn

The Naamai Eco-Tourism Society (NETS) has condemned the alleged incident of arson caused by unknown outsider(s) at the foothills of Naamai Zho Biodiversity Park during the night of February 27.NETS has also called for immediate and effective action against the culprit.
In a statement, NETS expressed regret that hundreds of trees planted by Naamai Eco-Tourism Society in collaboration with Senapati Forest Division at the valley to increases the green covers were burned to ashes.
Citing other damages caused by the fire, the statement added that domestic electric wires and water pipe lines connected for household uses were also charred.
The Society has acknowledged DFO Senapati John Sha for deploying task force in tracking, evaluating and monitoring the causes of fire at Naamai Zho Biodiversity Park with haste.
"If not for the vigilant villagers who acted quickly in dousing off the fire, the houses located in the proximity of the Park could have been consumed by fires, putting them into existential threat", NETS maintained.
The statement further demanded immediate action against the perpetrator for violating The Indian Forest Act, 1927 under Sec 26 (1) (b) .
