Importance of skill development, entrepreneurship and its avenues deliberated

The District Skill Committee, Imphal East organized a District Skill cum Employment Mela, 2023 today at Panchayat Bhawan, DC Complex, Porompat.
The inaugural function was graced by Mission Director, Manipur Society for Skill Development, LN Kashung, IAS; Khumanthem Diana Devi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East and Shamim Ahmad Shah, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East as the presidium members.
Ten employers namely Eastern Motors Chingmeirong; Romi bag Industries; Sky Hospital & Research Centre Pvt Ltd; Eastern Auto Agency; Medilane Healthtech and Consultancy Services Pvt Ltd; Classic Group of Hotels; Globizs Web Solutions Pvt Ltd; Dweller Pvt Ltd; Wangkhei Eye Hospital and Timespro Channel Partner HRC, Imphal opened their respective stalls to the public.

Eight training providers namely Ayana Creative Enterprises; Integrated Research & Resource Development Organisation; JCRE Skills Solution; KB Philanthropy 5; JACEEX Ventures LLP; NIELIT Imphal: Anudip Foundation for Social Welfare Organisation; U-fitness Centre and three Line departments namely KVK, Andro, Imphal East; Department of Agriculture, IE and Department of Veterinary, IE also put up stalls in the mela.
On the occasion, speaking as the chief guest LN Kashung emphasized on the importance of government sponsored training programmes like PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana) in enhancing the skill ecosystem and overall employability of the youths.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East highlighted on the importance of skilling and encouraged the youths to enrol themselves in skilling/training courses to increase their overall employability in all possible sectors.
The inaugural session was followed by a panel discussion on the topic "Importance of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and its Avenues" attended by eminent entrepreneurs.
The panel discussion centred on the different avenues of employment generation in Manipur with special emphasis on entrepreneurship development and skill training.
The panellists stressed on the need for such open discourse and deliberations between the government, the academia, industry partners, NGOs, CSOS and private individuals.
Such discourse would bring about a healthy shift in the mindset of the youths and the parents alike towards private jobs and entrepreneurship, they maintained.
The mela witnessed a footfall of more than 400 participants from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
The mela was coordinated by Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow-Imphal East Miss Soniya Kangjam, member of District Skill Committee, Imphal east.
