Imphal, August 22 2013:
Serving an ultimatum to the Government to fulfil its various demands within Aug 30, the All Tribal Disabled Students' Union, Manipur (ATDSUM) has warned of launching 72-hour bandh in the hill districts of the State from midnight of Sept 2 in case its demands are not fulfilled within the given time.
The ATDSUM has submitted its ultimatum to the Social Welfare Minister today.
The demands of ATDSUM included setting up of special school with hostel facility in any of the hill districts and decentralisation of disability certificates issuing authority.
ATDSUM pointed out that the blind school at Takyel could not accommodate all disabled students of the State.
So there is a pressing need for the setting up of special disable school for the tribal disabled students of the State at any of the hill districts.
