Gyanandro JAC calls dawn to dusk bandh

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in protest against the killing of van driver Okram Gyanendro has called for a dawn to dusk state wide bandh tomorrow.
Saying that the dateline given to Manipur Government to identify and nab the culprits has ended, the JAC informed that it has decided to impose a 13-hour Manipur general strike from 5 am to 6 pm tomorrow.
It said the decision was taken during a public meeting held at Singjamei Community Hall here Thursday.
Meanwhile, traffic along Imphal-Moreh road (National Highway-2) continued to be disrupted for the third consecutive days as large number of protesters including members of the Gyanendro JAC blocked the highway at Singjamei.

The Imphal-Moreh Road Transporters' Union had on August 19 last called for an indefinite strike to stop passenger service along Imphal-Moreh road (National Highway-2) from August 20 to lodge protest against the killing of the van driver.
Driver associations in Manipur had also condemned the killing of the driver.
Gyanendra aged 35, was reportedly shot dead inside his own passenger van by unknown persons on August 18 .
