Women must play active role in politics: Korungthang

General Secretary (Mahila in-charge) of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and MLA of Tengnoupal Constituency DK Korungthang has said that Manipuri women should be in the forefront of politics to bring about a significant change in the society.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest of a workshop cum mass enrolment programme organized jointly by Chandel District Congress Committee and Tengnoupal Block Congress Committee at Hotel Imphal, North AOC here today.
MLA Korungthang further said that the mass enrolment programme was held for the first time for Chandel Mahila Congress.
The Mahila volunteers play vital roles for the Congress Party.
They should strive to bring changes in the society, he exhorted.
Women should not confine themselves to their households, but they should also take active roles in legislation and administration of the country.
They should make significant contributions to the country, the MLA enjoined.
President of Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee RK Ranisana said that workshops for Mhila Congress are being organized in all 60 constituencies of the State with the objective of empowering women in the field of legislation and administration.
Mahila Congress is the backbone of the Indian National Congress and so the women volunteers must work with utmost sincerity and dedication, she asserted.
Chairman of Chandel ADC Lhukhosei Zou maintained that Manipuri women have been very extraordinary dealing with myriad social and political issues.
The workshop was also attended by President of Chandel District Congress Committee NS Mephul, Mahila in-charge of MPCC M Ranjit, Secretary (Administration) S Jiten and Youth in-charge P Sashikanta.
