Jiri mob storms Court complex

To register objection to the bail grant plea of accused mother-son, angry mob today stormed the Court of Judicial Magistrate, Jiribam and raised slogans against granting bail to the accused.
Ashangbam Promila Leima and her son A Tiken, accused of abetting the suicide of Ashangbam (O) Sardanandini on Aug 17, have been produced before the Court of Judicial Mag istrate 1st Class, Jiribam today.
Irate mob including the blood relatives of the deceased and members of various Meira Paibi organisations attempted to snatch the culprits who were escorted in a police vehicle enroute to the Court premises.
However, the duo were escorted to the Court room amidst tightened
security measure.
The mob raised slogans like 'don't delay justice,' 'punish the killers,' 'no discrimination against women,' 'don't grant bail to the accused,' etc at the Court premises.
The Court remanded the mother-son duo to 15 days Judicial custody.
It may be mentioned that Ashangbam (O) Sardanandini was found hanged to death in a highly suspicious manner on Aug 17 last at her in-law's residence at Champanagar here.
A sit in protest was organised by various organisations including AJMP, WACAK, JIMWAK, AJWA, WAD and Jiri Keithel Ima Chaokhat Thourang Lup yesterday at Jiribam.
