Imphal, August 22 2013:
The Indo-Myanmar border issue in the State, especially at Moreh in Chandel district is getting tensed with alleged 'faulty' border fencing being carried out, on one hand and encroachment of land by the Myanmarese Army on the other hand.
The latest event that has come in the whole episode of this border dispute is the encroachment of land at Haolenphai Village by the Myanmarese Army for construction of a temporary Platoon Base Camp.
Haolenphai Village is located at about 3 kilometres to the south of Moreh Police Station, just adjacent to the disputed Border Pillar No.76 .
As per the report given by the Chief of Haolenphai Village, Moreh ADC Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, SDPO H Balram and Commando OC Sadananda Singh inspected the disputed area of Haolenphai Village, where the Myanmarese Army has started to construct their base camp.
The trees grown near the Border Pillar No.23 of Myanmar located not very far from the disputed Border Pillar No.76 were found cut down.

The officials of Moreh immediately called the CO of 87 LIR Myanmar Army and held a meeting.
The State officials requested the Myanamarese Army to stop the construction works of their temporary platoon base camp at Haolenphai unless the disputed international boundaries are amicably settled.
Moreh ADC expressed his desire to discuss the matter with the CO of 9 Assam Rifles and maintain the friendly relationship between India and Myanmar intact.
The State officials insisted the Myanmarese Army to stop the construction works of their base camp as the construction works of Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh near Border Pillar No.78 has also been put on halt at the request of the Myanmarese authorities.
Replying to the State officials, the CO of 87 LIR Myanmar Army said that the higher authorities of Myanmarese Government have ordered the Army to construct a temporary Platoon Base Camp at Haolenphai Village, which comes within the boundary of Myanmar as per their map.
He maintained that he cannot stop the construction works unless the higher authorities instruct them to do so.
However, the matter would be raised to their higher authorities.
The Myanmarese Army official further stated that they had cut the trees and cleaned up the area for construction of their base camp after the CO of 9 Assam Rifles was given prior information 30 days before the commencement of their work.
The Chief of Haolenphai Village Lalkhulun Haokip has appealed to the authorities concerned to hold a meeting of the two neighbouring countries and settle the border disputes at the earliest.
