Road repaired

Normal traffic movement along Mao-Lakhamai road, which has been disrupted since past few days due to landslides at several places, has been restored today.
The sunk portions were revamped under the supervision of Karong AC MLA V Alexander Pao giving great relief to the people of around 30 villages of Senapati district.
PWD Senapati Division Engineer L Iboton, Purul Block SDO Ronald and volunteers of Paomata Student's Union, Chilivai Union and village chiefs and villagers took active part in repairing the road along with the MLA.
Speaking to reporters, V Alexander Pao said, the 45-km road is an important road of Karong AC next to NH-2 .
However, the road witnessed landslides at many areas recently and the condition of the road became deteriorated due to heavy downpour since past seven days.
Sensing the inconvenience and hardships faced by the villagers of around 30 villages, he repaired the road with the funds from his local area development fund, the MLA added.
Alexander Pao urged Works Minister Kh Ratankumar to inspect the condition of road that connects Mao and Lakhamai via Purul.
He said that villagers usually face inconvenience at the time of medical emergency and transportation of essential commodities.
Saying that the road needs construction of culverts and bridges at suitable locations and taking up measures to check landslides, the MLA expressed hope that the State Government would take up early steps to repair the said road.
