MLA inspects damaged Chilivai IVRs

MLA Dr V Alexander Pao today inspected Chilivai Road which has suffered many major damages due to flood in Senapati district.
The MLA was accompanied by PP Ronald, SDO Purul; E Chothe, EE-PWD division, Senapati; village chairman, secretary, headman, contractors, social workers of villages connected by the road especially Lakhamai, Phaibung and Shirong.
The single lane, dilapidated road which seems least bothered by the concerned department is the sole connecting road for 19 villages clustered as Chilivai, comprising around 15,000 population.
Speaking at the site, the MLA expressed shocked at the stretch of road washed away by the monsoon rain.
The MLA assured assistance from his Local Area Development Fund.
Further, the MLA appealed to the Government to make immediate investigation and intervene on the matter.
The MLA also highlighted the absence of health care centres and tele-communication service in the area which caused immense hardship to the people in times of need.
PP Ronald the SDO of Purul appealed to the BSNL authority to set up towers in the region so as to mitigate the problems of the people.
The Lakhamai village Headman, S Thailu, in his litany of grievances, added that the 33 Villages Power Centres remained defunct without any staff.
He added that the recent flood has caused destruction to many paddy fields of Lakhamai, Khodom (Khullen/Khunou), Shirong (Sofii), Khongdei.
He said that the people of these villages mainly depend on farming as source of livelihood and recently transplanted paddy worth of about 6 lakh has been ruined by the flood water of Iril River.
