The All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM) has resolved to take up various forms of democratic agitations unannounced if the Government fails to respond to the union's request for meeting with certain demands placed before the Govern-ment regarding the Blind School rape case at the earliest.
The union had on July 22 made an official request to the Government to approve for a meeting with the executive members of the union but no response has been received till date, maintained president-in-charge of the union, Letminthang Haokip during a press meet held in Imphal today.
The union's charter of demands included removal of Manipur Social Welfare Minister, AK Mirabai from the ministerial portfolio, termination of the service of Headmistress, hostel superintendent, warden and chowkidar Bhim Bahadur Thapa of Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel, taking up appropriate legal action against the rapist Bhim Bahadur Thapa alias Kansa, to provide for immediate rehabilitation and monetary relief to the rape victim, and setting up of a special school for the tribal physically challenged persons in Manipur.
ADUM has decided to take up various forms of agitations to voice their demands if the government continues to stay as silent spectators.
