Camp concludes at Motbung

A week long special camp of National Service Scheme Unit Presidency College Motbung has concluded under the theme, 'Tree Plantation under Mission Go Green' at Presidency College campus yesterday.
The camp concluded in the presence of Dr T Gangte, Principal of the PCM.
L Keronchandra, Programme Officer NSS Unit PCM said that the camp was conducted under the initiative of NSS Cell, Manipur University to enhance the career of the college students and bring out their hidden talents in various fields.
He added that more than over 700 saplings of different tree varieties were planted in and around the NSS Unit PCM adopted village Motbung during the camp by more than 100 college students and staff of the college and Motbung villagers.
The Programme Officer further said that plantation of saplings would reduce global warming and provide eco-friendly environment.
L Keronchandra said that that under the initiative of NSS Cell, Manipur University the 'Mission Go Green' was launched on August 12 last year to plant one lakh saplings in various parts of the State in collaboration with 92 NSS Units under the Cell.
So far under the mission, more than 9000 saplings have already been planted, said L Keronchandra while adding that the mission will continue till August 12 this year.
While lauding the Chief Conservator of Forest, Govt of Manipur for providing saplings as per the requirement of the Cell, L Keronchandra also appealed the people of the State to extend cooperation to the endeavour.
