AMPFA celebrates 17th Foundation Day

The 17th Foundation Day of All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) was celebrated today at Phunchongjang (Wangthrok) village Community Hall in Ccpur district with the theme 'Food Sufficiency' .
The programme was attended by Joy Nongmaithem, president of AMPFA and S Chungjalam Kom, chief of Phunchongjang as the presidium members.
Various rabbi seeds were presented to the villagers by the AMPFA on the occasion.
Calling for self-sufficiency in food production, Joy Nongmaithem exhorted the farmers to opt for multiple cropping so as to end dependency on food products.
Joy also urged the farmers not to neglect farming activities with the implementation of National Food Security Act while reminding the farmers that the State is experiencing 2 lakh metric tons shortage of foodgrains annually.
He said that erecting tall and huge building in cultivable land should be considered seriously.
Joy also assured the villagers that he would highlight the problems faced by Phunchongjang farmers to the concerned departments and ease them.
He further said that the association would strive to promote organic farming and rain water harvesting to ease water scarcity problem.
