Dimapur, January 09 2014:
The NSCN (IM) has termed the Assam government's blaming of the outfit for the murder of nine Karbi youths recently as 'quite malicious' considering that the Rengma Naga Hill Protection Force (RNHPF) had already owned up to the killings on January 7 .
"Such habitual accusations and malice towards us only indicate the attitude of Assam government under Tarun Gogoi towards the Nagas," said a statement issued by the outfit.
It also accused the Assam government of totally failing to maintain law and order and being a mute spectator, "which can be easily understood that Rengma Nagas and Karbis are being pitted against each other for the reason best known to them" .
Condemning the cold blooded murder of 9 Karbi youths at Pachaspura near Chumukedima by the RNHPF, the NSCN (IM) said such a gruesome act is uncalled for and could have resulted in unwanted repercussions had it not been the overtime work for restraint, peace and reconciliation from the civil society, the Nagas and Karbis.
It also condemned the killing of four Rengma Nagas and burning down of their houses, rendering thousands homeless.
The NSCN (IM) said it is the duty of the two states to facilitate and maintain peace between the two indigenous communities besides taking adequate steps to rehabilitate the affected villagers.
It appealed to both the communities to abstain from any negative propaganda against each other and sort out all differences through dialogue.
