Western Valley Sports meet starts

Thungcheng, January 09 2014:
The 47th Annual Sports' Meet of Western Valley Area organized by the Western Valley Area Sporting Association (WVASA), Chandel district began from today at Thungcheng village playground.
The opening ceremony of the sports meet was attended by Social Worker Ws Kanral Anal and special Contractor Hl Lovingson as Chief Guest and Functional President respectively.
NL Hrangam and Retd Inspector of School NL Khamson were also present on the occasion as Guests of honor.
In all, 16 football clubs are participating in the sports meet which will go on till January 23 .
Speaking on the occasion, Ws Kanral appreciated the efforts of WVASA for keeping alive, the spirit of promoting sports at a local ground in spite of fund constraints.
He urged the organizers to broaden the scope of the sports meet so that a strong team of the area emerged to represent at the district, state and national level sporting events.
Hl Lovingson, in his, speech encouraged the players to play the game of football as their profession.
He said a player must be inspired by the game spirit, discipline and health so as to become successful footballer.
An exciting exhibition match was played between Maribung Youth Club and Beru-Unopat Youth club as a part of the opening ceremony.
Tokpaching, Julbanching and Panchai will take on Riverlane, Modi and Beru Khudam in the first, second and third match of league round to begin from 10:30 am of January 10 .
