Along with formal launch of election campaign, a public event seeking divine intervention for Inner Manipur parliamentary Constituency contestant Dr Moirangthem Nara was held today at Tentha Khongbal Multiplex Ground wherein monetary contribution collected from his native village was also handed over to the common candidate of 10 political organisations.
CPI State secretary Dr M Nara is being sponsored by the 10 political parties and hails from Tentha village in Thoubal district, one of many villages whose residents cannot contest election for the Outer MP seat inspite of having voting rights.
They also cannot cast votes in the Inner MP seat.
It is said that volunteers of Dr M Nara Supporting MP election Committee collected Rs 1,66,445 from 1966 households of Tentha village and handed over the sum to Dr Nara at the ground where a friendly football match between teams of langathel and Sangaiprou GPs was also organised as part of the public event.
Conveying gratitude for the people's gesture, Dr Nara said he is greatly inspired to serve the people and ensure that their political rights are guaranteed through intense debate in the Parliament.
Zilla parishad members present at the occasion also declared that irrespective of having no voting rights in the Inner manipur Parliamentary Constituency they would vigorously campaign for Dr Nara's success by urging relatives and friends residing within the constituency.
The event was organised by Tentha Gram Sabha.
