Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Thoubal in collaboration with Rural Development Association, Thoubal Sabantongba Awang Leikai organised a one day theme-based awareness and education programme at RDA Community Hall today.
The programme was attended by 100 women of the area.
Delivering the key note address, Ch.
Basanta Singh, District Project Officer, NYK Thoubal asked the participating women to spend quality time with their kids.
He pointed out that the parents and more particularly the mothers have very important role to play in shaping the future of their children.
As cooking is almost done by women in every house, mothers should take advantage of this to ensure that everyone in the family eat the evening meal together so that it will give the opportunity to talk about the day's event.
Parents should also teach their children to be assertive whenever appropriate and should try to understand the child's problem instead of blaming or condemning them for their misdeeds, Basanta said, while touching upon the problem of rising substance abuse among the youths in the society today.
K.Lokendro Singh, DACYP Member, talked about the various programmes and schemes of the Government which would be availed by the people.
Ajit Singh, Secy of Rural Development Association, thanked the NYK Thoubal for organising the programme.
