Imphal, January 29 2014:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today exclaimed that the political wave created by BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is too low to break the Congress stronghold in the State.
He was replying to the queries of media persons on the sidelines of scrutiny of Rajya Sabha Election at Manipur Legislative Assembly Complex here today.
Ibobi further said that the BJP might be popular in other states but their party workers are simply fantasizing Narendra Modi's wave here in the State.
India is a democratic country and everyone has the right to campaign for elections.
However, BJP's campaign in the State would not be able to prevent the Congress from securing both Parliamentary seats of the State in the coming Lok Sabha Election.
When asked about the charges of corruption made by the BJP against the Congress leaders, the Chief Minister clarified that nothing can be taken into account unless there are evidences to prove the allegations.
The people are well aware of the scenario and their (BJP leaders) baseless allegations would not harm the Congress Party in any way, Ibobi noted.
Deputy CM Gaikhangam also endorsed Chief Minister Ibobi's statement and slammed the BJP for their baseless allegations against the Congress leaders.
He further stated that the Congress Party is committed to work for the people all throughout whether there is election or not, unlike the BJP which shows up only at the time of election.
