JNIMS scores a first in NE

Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Hospital will become the first medical college in the entire North East region to install electron microscope.
Talking to The Sangai Express, JNIMS Director M Shyamo said that the hospital will take a giant leap in the diagnosis and treatment of different kidney ailments with the installation of this modern equipment at the Pathology Department.
For the first time since its inception in 2009, the State Government has given its assent to sanction Rs 33 crore under SPA to JNIMS for the purchase of some common as well as super speciality equipments, he said.
In this connection, Dr Shyamo added, the State Government has also constituted a purchase committee with Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) as the Chairman and JNIMS Director as the Member Secretary.
The committee would also have members from the State Health Department, he said.
Saying that surgery equipments including critical brain and kidney surgeries would be purchased in the first phase, Dr Shyamo said that 3-Tussle Magnetic MRI, X-Ray 800, MA (800 MA) and C Arm are some of the equipments which are to be acquired in this phase.
The institute is planning to issue e-tender on manipurtender.co.in within two-three days, he added.
Maintaining that JNIMS authority is putting in serious effort to make it a premier institute, Dr Shyamo expressed hope that JNIMS would remain as an asset for the people of the State for long once it gets recognition from the authority concerned in mid 2015 .
Saying that the institute is planning to install quality equipments this time, Dr Shyamo urged different organisations not to hinder JNIMS authority in this regard.
Dr Shyamo also appealed to the general public to extend cooperation to JNIMS authority in maintaining cleanliness in and around the hospital complex.
He also sought timely suggestions from the general public regarding any mistake.
