Tribal fest ends

The 3rd State Level Tribal Cultural Festival came to a close at Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong today.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Hill Area Committee Chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo graced the closing function as chief guest and president respectively.
Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Chairman T Manga Vaiphei and TA and Hills Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keishing were also present at the function as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Gaikhangam said that 'work culture' is the most important culture that the people of the State must protect and promote for bringing development.
He said that most of the festivals originated through celebrations of bumper harvest in olden days.
As such, the people of the State must uphold the work culture that forefathers used to maintain in the past, he observed.
Urging the people of the State not to forget work culture while promoting and preserving culture, Gaikhangam also wished the gathering that the three-day festival brings love, integrity, peace and harmony in Manipur.
Traditional dances and folk songs of Zemei, Liangmai, Mao, Mizo and Simte were presented at the closing function.
