Anal bodies condemn rape of minor girl

Chandel, January 29 2014: Several Anal bodies have strongly condemned the incident of rape of a minor girl by unknown person on the night of January 20 at Kangbung village under Chakpikarong sub division in Chandel district.

At the same time, the Anal bodies have also reiterated their strong objection to the move of the government of India and Manipur for setting up of a model township at Holenphai by acquiring about 3000 acre of land without the prior, consent and knowledge of Thangbung Mino village Authority, which possessed the legal ownership of the land.

Speaking at the press conference at the ofice of ALT at Panchai here today, President of Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA) Wng Victor Kohring strongly condemned the rape of an 8-year old girl at Kangbung village on the night of January 20 .

He informed that the girl and her mother were on a visit to her grandfather's village, Kangbung, to attend the rising day celebration of the village.

On that fateful night, the unknown rapist entered the room where the girl was asleep and her to an isolated place where the crime was committed.

The identity of the rapist is yet to be established, but the Chiefs' Association of Chakpikarong has started an investigation, the President said.

For ensuring justice to the victim and arrest of the culprit for necessary punishment at the earliest, Victor also appealed to all to extend cooperation and support.

Furthermore, Victor informed that on January 25 an ultimatum had been served to the DC Chandel for immediate withdrawal of the land acquisition letter written by the DC himself to the ADC Moreh in connection with acquisition of about 3000 acres of land belonging to Thangbung Minou.

But so far, there has been no response.

He also informed that a public rally would be taken out on February 1 under the joint aegis of ANTA, ALT, ASR and ALCA to protest the land acquisition move.
