Delhi police to train NE people on self-defence

With the rising cases of rape, molestation and assault on the North East people in New Delhi the police in the national capital will be imparting 'emergency self defence training' to the North East people from February end.
Robib Hibu (IPS) who is the Joint Commissioner of Delhi police said on Tuesday that they are planning to organise this training along with the Hindi speaking classes at Siri Fort Karate Club, Delhi.
The police officer who himself is from the North East region said the classes will be held for two hours followed by one hour of Hindi speaking class at the same venue.
The proposed timing for self defence class will be in the late afternoon on Saturdays, Sundays and on gazetted holidays, Robin Hibu added.
According to the Delhi police joint commissioner, the programme has planned as several North East based women organisations, NGOs and student bodies have been requesting the 'Nodal Officer' for the North East to conduct such programmes.
