AMCO appeals

The All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) and Chandel District Christian Forum (CDCF) jointly organised a prayer programme for "Free, Fair and Peaceful Election" in Chandel and Tengnoupal Assembly Constituencies at District HQs Baptist Church, Japhou Bazar as the State gears up for the second phase poll on March 5 .
Reverends, Pastors, men, women and youth from surrounding Churches and also from Tengnoupal besides five members representing AMCO from Imphal attended the programme, said AMCO in a release.
The AMCO members dwelt on various perspectives and appealed to Church leaders and others to hold on to the Christian faith and character in bringing about a free, fair and peaceful election during the programme, it said.
The members preached that the election should not be a time of hatred, fight and bloodshed in any case and one should see Jesus in each one including the candidates and the voters, it said.
AMCO also quoted AMCO member and TCLF president, Rev Dr Lalpi Vaiphei as saying that proper knowledge of democracy is very important and good works will prove a good leader and everyone would vote for the best.
Lalpi Vaiphei also said that if there is dignity and integrity, there would not be any need for campaigns, election agents and spending huge money on elections, the release added.
