GOC EC reviews security situation of Nagaland

GOC in C Eastern Command lieutenant general RP Kalita visited headquarters IGAR (North) of Spear Corps in Kohima and reviewed the security situation of Nagaland.
According to a release by PRO (Defence), the army commander was briefed by senior officers on the operational and administrative preparedness as well as the security situation prevailing in Nagaiand.
He then commended the efforts of IGAR (North) in maintaining high level of professionalism and appreciated their untiring endeavours towards assisting the local populace and civil administration especially during the pandemic times.
He also interacted with Nagaiand chief secretary, MJ Alam on March 1 while on Wednesday the general officer met chief minister Nei-phu Rio and held discussions on the security scenario and issues pertaining to the state of Nagaiand.
He assured full support of security forces in maintaining a conducive security environment in the region, said the release.
In another release, the PRO defence ihformed that lieutenant general RC Tiwari took over the reins of Spear Corps from lieutenant general JP Mathew on Wednesday.
The general is an Infantry Officer and was commissioned in the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army in 1987.He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, the Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and the National Defence College and has held several prestigious command and staff assignments in conventional as well as counter-insurgency operations in India and abroad.
He commanded an infantry battalion in Counter Insurgency Operations, Mountain Brigade in High Altitude and Black Cat Division as General Officer Commanding.
Prior to taking over the latest appointment, Tiwari was chief of staff in Headquarters South Western Command, Jaipur.
The new Corps commander conveyed his greetings to the people of the North East and wishes them peace, tranquillity and prosperity in the times ahead, added the release.
