BJP demands repoll in 24 PSs

The BJP Manipur Pradesh has urged the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur to conduct repoll in at least 23 polling stations in Saikul and one in Saitu Constituencies with adequate security to reflect the true mandate of the people.
A press release jointly signed by K Bhabananda Singh, Tongbram Tejkumar and L Deben Singh claimed that there were issues of booth capturing, destruction of EVM, bogus voting and violence at some polling stations of Saikul and Saitu ACs.
According to BJP, as many as 22 polling stations in Saikul AC were captured by NSCN (IM) and KRA cadres while the EVM was destroyed in one polling station.
In Saitu, Congress candidate along with his armed associates 'forcefully' entered one polling area and destroyed the EVM, it claimed and alleged that the situation was so grave that the security personnel posted there opened fire to control the mob.
The commission has already directed repolling at this polling station, it said.
Similarly, at polling station number 52 Kharampallel, there was an incident of booth capturing and bogus voting.
The polling station was captured by NSCN (IM) cadres, it claimed.
Saying that the election at the aforesaid polling stations will be against the prospect of honest candidates, the BJP urged the authority concerned to direct a repoll with adequate security.
