Imphal, March 02 2022:
While stating that BJP used both muscle and money power with the intention of winning the elections by hook or crook, social political commentator Ch Bijoy, who was also the former chief spokesperson of the saffron party, has remarked that BJP's dream of winning 40 seats in the polls will remain a dream.
Speaking to newspersons on Wednesday, Bijoy contended that democracy is being strangulated as selection instead of election is being carried out in the country.
People witnessed how much power-hungry BJP is during the recent polls.
However, the party will be getting its due soon as it will not be able to win even the 21 seats it won in the last polls.
Thus, its dream of winning 40 seats will continue to remain as nothing but a dream.
Stating that many gaps were observed on the side of ECI with regard to the conduct of first phase of election in the state, Bijoy remarked that ECI is focused only on the fights, while ignoring laundering of crores of black money.
A democracy is about electing the leaders based on the people's mandate.
However, in many of the constituencies including Henglep, BJP was observed using unfair means and both muscle and money power to influence the voters.
In other polling booths, some "hired", voters voted repeatedly, booths were captured, EVMs destroyed, while polling personnel were attacked in other places.
Furthermore, the close association of Henglep AC BJP candidate with SoO groups and their forceful coercion of voters on the polling day is no secret.
Meanwhile, 11 booths in CM Biren's own Heingang constituency were captured as per complaints, Bijoy conveyed, and questioned the need to use additional forces if the CM was so sure of his victory in his own constituency.
