Mizoram cop among three killed in accidents

Three people including a constable of Mizoram SAPF (2IRB) died while 32 others were left injured in two road accidents that occurred at different places on Wednesday.
In the first accident that occurred around 1:30 am at Tamenglong college campus, one vehicle (Tata DI medium truck) bearing registration No AS -11/EC-0239 allotted to 'E' Company of Mizoram SAPF met an accident injuring 11 personnel of Mizoram police detailed for election duty in Tamenglong district.
Of the injured personnel, six suffered grievous wounds.
All of them were rushed to Tamenglong district hospital immediately but constable (516) K Lalawmpuia of Champhai was declared brought dead by the doctors.
The other injured personnel have been identified as SI RC Lalthlamuana, Hav V Lalbiakmawia, Hav VL Dingliana, Hav R Lalbiaknunga, Hav Lalsangzuala, Nk Lalsawmliana, C/576 Lalhlimpuia, C/168 Lalmawizuala, C/45 Lalbiaknunga and C/222 R Lalnunmawia.
According to a statement of GC CRPF, a team of CRPF Manipur - Nagaland sector launched rescue operation immediately after getting the news in coordination with CEO office and Manipur police.
All the injured personnel and the deceased constable were airlifted to Imphal using helicopter and admitted to RIMS hospital.
To help the injured personnel, a team of CRPF officers including doctors was stationed already at RIMS.
Post mortem of the deceased constable was conducted at and later flown to Aizawl.
The rescue operation was led by CRPF IG Manish Kumar Agarwal, DIG (Ops) PK Naik, DIG (Range) RS Rautela, CEO and one IG of Manipur police.
According to sources, 'D' Company and 'E' Company of Mizoram SAPF were given lodging/accommodation at Tamenglong College.
The entrance of the college is steep and the road is narrow for entry of heavy vehicles.
The medium truck which met the accident was used to transport all the utensils, gas, riot gears and beddings from the main road.
In another road accident, two persons died and 23 others were injured when a vehicle (Bolero Pickup) carrying BJP'supporters met with an accident at Nungsei part 3 around 11.30 am Wednesday.
The BJP supporters were heading to Khoupum where an election rally attended by CM N Biren was held.
The deceased BJP supporters have been identified as Puijamlin Lamei (21) and Ringchangai Kamei (22) both of Noney Part 1.Puijamlin died on the way to Raj Medicity here while Ringchangai succumbed at the same private hospital.
The other injured persons are undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity and RIMS.
