ANTA alleges police high-handedness

Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA) has charged Manipur police commando of resorting to unwarranted firing and injuring many womenfolk at Sugnu police station on Wednesday around 3pm .
In a release, ANTA general secretary Jamhring Wanglum said that the incident occurred when a group of womenfolk was demanding unconditional release of eight people who have been arrested from Chakpikarongkhupi village under Chakpikarong Police Station by personnel of 37 AR posted at Salluk on Wednesday morning.
While demanding immediate handing over of the eight to Chakpikarong police station where the actual incident happened and release them unconditionally, the secretary cautioned that 37 AR and Chakpikarong Police Station should be held responsible for any untoward incident that may happen in the event of failing to fulfil the demand.
