Tributes paid to Ramkashing, Mayopam

The Nagas, scattered in an area of 1.28 lakh square kilometres in Myanmar and India including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, would be integrated sooner than later.
This was stated by Tang-khul Naga Long (TNL) presi- dent Weapon Zimik while addressing the 1st martyrdom anniversary of Ramkashing and Mayopam today at TNL ground, Ukhrul.
People turned out in large number to pay tributes to the two 'martyrs' on their death anniversary today at Ukhrul.
Ramkashing Vashi and Mayopam Ramror were killed in police action against protesters during a protest at Ukhrul on Aug 30, 2014 under the aegis of UNC.
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) under the aegis of United Naga Council (UNC) organised the 1st martyrdom anniversary of the two deceased today.

The gatherings observed a one-minute silence in honour of the departed souls.
TNL president Weapon Zimik said that the sacrifices of Ramkashing and Mayopam are recorded in the history of the Nagas.
On the Indo-Naga issue, Weapon Zimik said that the issue is not only the prerogative of the national workers now, but all have a say on it.
Calling upon the people for reconciliation, Weapon urged all concerned to bury the past hatred and misunderstandings so that the Nagas flourish together as one nation.
Speaking at the occasion, UNC president Gaidon Kamei said that the UNC will not succumb to violent tactics of the State Govt but defend the rights of the Nagas.
Saying that the Indo-Naga peace deal has opened a new platform for the Nagas, Gaidon called upon all Naga factional leaders to unite and come forward to resolve the Indo-Naga issue collectively for a permanent solution.
He urged all concerned to contribute their might in building a strong Naga nation.
The UNC president urged all people of Southern Nagalim to extend maximum support and cooperation to the recently signed framework agreement between GoI and NSCN-IM.
Gaidon further said that the supreme sacrifice of Mayopam and Ramkashing would never be forgotten while also consoling the two widows left behind by the martyrs.
Representatives from various tribes like Thangal, Zeliangrong, Tarao, Monsang, Maring, Lamkang, Chiru, Inpui, Kharam attended the programme.
ADC members of Ukhrul led by chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung joined the gatherings in paying homage to the departed souls today.
