CM reviews ASEAN car rally preparations

Ongoing preparations in the State for the ASEAN-India rally have been reviewed today by the Government of Manipur with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh presiding the review meeting.
The rally, flagged off from Jakarta (Indonesia) on November 25, is being conducted to celebrate 20 years of relationships between India and ASEAN countries.
According to news agencies, drivers taking part in the Rally have reached the capital city of Siem Reap Province in Cambodia on Monday.
At the meeting also attended by Deputy CM Gaikhangam, Commerce & Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism M Prithviraj, Chief Secretary DS Poonia and DGP Y Joykumar, Principal Secretary (Commerce & industries) O Nabakishore is informed to have presented minute reports on the rally.

Besides deliberating on steps to accord a rousing reception to the rally participants on their arrival at the historic Kangla, the meeting also decided to depute Govindas Konthoujam to Moreh for overseeing relevant works to welcome the participants, who are scheduled to cross into India from Myanmar on December 15 .
At Kangla, the State Government would organise a cultural programme for the rally participants, who would also be flagged off from the same venue by the CM.
Security related issues also figured prominently at the meeting, an informed source said while adding that issues concerning the proposed India-Bangladesh-Myanmar-China car rally, which will be flagged off from Kolkata on February 21 next year were also discussed at the meeting.
The latter rally will enter Manipur at Jiribam and proceed towards Myanmar and China via Imphal.
