Imphal, December 04 2012:
Raising a number of grievances, the Zomi Re-unification Front, an erstwhile member of the conglomerate body, the Kuki National Organisation, under the SoO pact has sought to join the United People's Front, the other conglomerate of Kuki armed groups under the same pact.
A formal intimation to join the UPF has already been sent.
In the formal intimation addressed to the UPF and which was made available to the press today, the ZRF listed three points of grievances for seeking to join the UPF.
Stating that they are no longer interested in the political demand of the KNO, which is a Kuki State (Zalengam), the ZRF said that they are impressed by the political demand raised by the UPF, which is an Autonomous Tribal State.
Alleging step motherly treatment by the KNO, ZRF said that they do not even recieve their stipend for 2/3 months.
The ZRF further said that the politics of the KNO is baseless and undependable for the tribal people.
On being contacted a leader of the UPF confirmed that the ZRF has been admitted into their fold.
