Imphal, May 29 2015 :
Supporters of disqualified MLAs Thongam Bishwajit and Khumukcham Koykishan today staged protest demonstrations against disqualification of the two MLAs together with MLA Oinam Lukhoi of Wangoi A/C at different places within Thongju A/C and Thangmeiband A/C .
The Speaker's Tribunal Court of Manipur Legislative Assembly disqualified the Thongju A/C local MLA along with Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykishan and Wangoi AC MLA Oinam Lukhoi on May 27 .
Th Bino, a protester, stated that such disqualification of an elected leader was something which people of Thongju never anticipated from the Congress led Government.
She further said that even if mid-term poll takes places, people of Thongju A/C will support him.
Whereas the people of Thongju A/C staged a protest demonstration at Mongkhang Lambi, womenfolk of Thangmeiband A/C staged a similar protest demonstration at Thangmeiband.
The protesters demanded that the Election Commission of India should hold mid-term polls to the three Assembly segments of Thongju, Wangoi and Thangmeiband before the monsoon session of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) has urged the authorities concerned to hold mid-term polls to the three Assembly segments as soon as possible.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, TAKDO advisor Soram Bijoy recalled that the disqualification petition was filed by MLA Shyamkumar in November/December last year before the tribunal's judgement was announced on May 27 .
He then questioned as to why the judgement on the disqualification petition against MLA Konthoujam Sarat of Konthoujam Sarat is still kept reserved.
It may be mentioned here that Speaker's Tribunal Court of Manipur Legislative Assembly found that the three disqualified MLAs have manifestly expressed their intention to give up membership of their original political party - AITC and its State unit MPTCC.
Their intention was confirmed by their actions of forming a new political party called AITC, Manipur State, which has a separate Constitution and its State political party was called MPTC.
All of them were elected to the tenth Manipur Legislative Assembly election on All India Trinamool Congress ticket along with Th Shyamkumar (Andro A/C), K Sarat (Konthoujam A/C), Dr I Ibohalbi (Oinam A/C) and (L) Maibam Kunjo (Hiyanglam A/C) .
However, after the said election, AITC MLAs excluding Th Shyamkumar and Dr I Ibohalbi left their parent party and formed Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) with Kh Joykishan as the president.
