Imphal, May 29 2015 :
JD (U) State unit president M Tombi fears that the ADC polls to be held on June 1 will not be free and fair and added that trend of 'selection' instead of 'election' will persist this time too.
M Tombi said this at a public meeting of 24-Bongbal Khullen ADC segment held on Friday at Khongsai Veng, Imphal.
He said that despite numerous appeals by the Congress and BJP it would not be a free and fair election.
Tombi further said that these two parties had already indulged in selection instead of election right from the start of ticket allotment process of the candidates.
If selection persists the winning members will never be able to keep a healthy relation with the hill people.
Hill people will face a worse situation and there will be no development in health, power, drinking water and availability of essential commodities.
The JD (U) leader also appealed to the voters to properly use their democratic rights.
Commenting on the smouldering Dzukou Valley irritants M Tombi said that this is an age-old dispute, and both the Manipur and Central Governments must be held responsible foruntoward follow ups.
He reminded that JD (U) strongly stands for the territorial integrity of Manipur and will not let an inch of the State's land to be encroached by others.
He suggested the State Government call an All Political Party Meeting soon if the need arises.
On the other hand, M Tombi said that the Speaker's decision to disqualify three Trinamool MLAs was done hurriedly.
He expressed his regrets for the people of Thangmeiband, Wangoi and Thongju assembly constituencies who will suffer setback in development in the absence of their MLAs.
The public meeting was also attended by JD (U) Manipur general secretary Lian Gangte.
