AR jawan injured NSCN (K) ambush

Imphal, May 29 2015 :
A Havildar belonging to the 19 Assam Rifles (AR) was wounded in an ambush suspected to have been carried out by NSCN (K) between Phesama and Kisama in Nagaland on Friday morning.
The wounded Havildar of the paramilitary force who was identified as JB Rai (52) has been airlifted to Kolkata for medical treatment, sources said.
The ambush took place around 10 am when the suspected NSCN (K) cadres opened fire on a convoy of three AR vehicles on the way to Jakhama.
The suspected NSCN (K) cadres used sophisticated weapons in the attack, said the sources.
The Assam Rifles team returned the fire and both sides engaged in a gun battle which lasted about 40 minutes.
Havildar JB Rai was injured in the encounter, they said.
