MNRF condoles 'sergeant' Akhui's death

Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) has deeply condoled the death of its cadre 'sergeant' Akhui alias Phakhuiring Hungyo (32), son of Simthar Hungyo of Bungpun village under Kasom Khullen subdivision in Ukhrul district.
A statement signed by Vapeimi Zimik, information & publicity secretary, MNRF on Friday said that Akhui was killed by security forces during the alleged encounter took place on May 23 at B Gamnom under Yairipok Police Station.
"We give revolutionary salute to late sergeant Akhui and deeply condoles his death," the statement said.
It said sergeant Akhui was on a mission to B Gamnom on May 23 when the combined team of 2 Assam Rifles and 11 Para Trooper shot him to death after being overpowered.
He was unarmed, it said.
Sergeant Akhui was a dutiful cadre who always maintained party discipline, MNRF said, adding the front also shares the grief of the bereaved family, relatives and near ones.
MNRF also expressed gratitude to those who extended a helping hand in searching and finding sergeant Akhui's body.
