Imphal, May 29 2015 :
Chief Minister O Ibobi hit out at BJP on Friday saying that the saffron party has so far been unsuccessful in taking up new developmental schemes for the country and so it has been frequently making changes in the nomenclatures of previous schemes introduced by Congress instead.
"The communal BJP has no place in Manipur," the Chief Minister said while addressing a campaign meeting for the Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls at Tuibong Peace Ground in Churachandpur district organized by the Churachandpur District Congress Committee.
The six ADCs in the five hill districts will go to poll on June 1 .
Ibobi charged that the BJP leaders have been fooling the electorate in a bid to woo them through false promises for the coming council polls.
He further took a dig at the BJP Government at the Centre which he accused of failing to meet its 100-day performance.
"The BJP is often making changes in the nomenclatures of various developmental schemes introduced by Congress for the country.
Some leaders of BJP are making false promises to the people that if voted to power, the party will allocate funds for ADCs directly from the Centre," Ibobi said.
He said the Centre cannot sidestep the State Government in allocating funds and dubbed the BJP's promise 'not viable" .
Ibobi demanded that allegations levelled against his Government by a Union Minister, who came to the State recently, for withholding funds meant for the hill districts should be clarified.
"BJP is a communal party.
My Government will continue to focus on avoiding financial-crunch in the hill," he assured.
CM Ibobi noted that the BJP-led NDA Government has slashed allocations provided under SPA to the North East besides stripping of the Special Category Status enjoyed by the region's States.
"The region is suffering now" .
Ibobi promised that his Government will do everything for the people by using the State's share and criticized the BJP for tagging Atal Pension on Old Age Pension.
"We'll appreciate the Centre if it takes up new schemes instead of already existed schemes.
CM Ibobi further expressed unhappiness over the joining of BJP by some congressmen.
He said politics should not be mistaken as a business.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam was also present during the campaign meeting.
He dubbed those who are with BJP as killers and arsonists.
He alleged that there have been several reports about torching churches by BJP men in New Delhi and other States and said the saffron party has been celebrating itself for all the tall claims and false promises.
Gaikhangam, who is also the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president said that the BJP Government is not fulfilling its assurances given to the people.
"BJP is indulging in communal politics.
The party is working against the Christians.
We need to remain vigilant and monitor closely what the party is really doing in the country.
He called for a free and fair election and criticized those who are disturbing the election process.
