Ambassador of Japan to India, Takeshi Yagi along with Australian High Commissioner to India, Patrick Suckling paid floral tributes to the fallen war heroes at India Peace Memorial, Maibam Lotpa Ching at a memorial function organised by Second World War Imphal Campaign Foundation and Manipur Tourism Forum as part of the 71st anniversary of World War-II today.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, who unveiled a memorial stone of the function, said that all the places where fierce battles were fought between Japanese and British forces during World War-II, would be developed as tourist places.
Takeshi Yagi said that Japan Government is looking into the possibilities of providing investment to Manipur.
He said that Battle of Imphal of World War-II is very significant in Japan.
Patrick Suckling said that it was an honour to be invited for the anniversary function.
PHE Minister I Hemochandra, YAS and Tourism Parliamentary Secretary M Prithviraj and Nambol AC MLA N Loken also attended the function.
