Miscreants torch house of a Cong worker

, MAY 29 (HNS): The house of one Congress worker was razed to the ground by some unidentified miscreants suspected to cadres of an underground group on Thursday night at Panikheti under Irang Part-II DCC of Kangpokpi AC.
The Congress worker has been identified as one Dhananjoy Basnet, who is working for Bhumi Prasad Basnet also known as Vikas, the Congress candidate from Irang Part-II DCC.
A reliable source said that Dhananjoy Basnet's house was set on fire at around 7:30 pm and the arson was suspected to be a warning against working for the Congress candidate of Irang part-II.
All his properties were reduced to cinders.
Mentioned may be made that Bhumi Prasad Basnet, Congress candidate of Irang Part-II rival is NPF candidate Jonah Chawang of Tapon Naga.
Before the public meeting, suspected armed cadres have allegedly threatened the Nepali community of Irang Part-II.
It was also alleged that they asked the Gaon Bura to bite a live bullet in an act of severe punishment if they happen to participate in Congress
public meeting.
It is worth mentioning that on that fateful day of INC public meeting at Panikheti, no participant turned up for the meeting till 12 noon while the local MLA and other dignitaries were already present at the venue even before 10:30 am.
The public meeting began only after 1 pm.
