Ukhrul, May 29 2015 :
Soon after assuming office, the new general secretary of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Nobert Khayi has set forth a new vision that can bring fundamental transformation in the way the apex customary body functions in a fast changing world.
Khayi was installed as General Secretary of TNL on 19 May following the resignation of his predecessor K Dickson to join the fray in the ensuing MHAADC Election.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao at his office on Friday, the 40 year-old TNL leader said that the fast-paced global scenario around us has necessitated innovation in sustaining the Tangkhul customary system.
"In as much as we need the present-day technology for the upkeep of our traditional values today, we need to see our functions from the perspective of the younger generation without overriding the age-old custom," he said adding that it takes bridging the gap between the young and old generations to move forward progressively.
He also said that he believes in sacrificing own comfort for service to society, while insisting that there is nothing one can be complacent about when building a society.
Giving his commitment to bringing this vision to fruition, he appealed to one and all to extend cooperation and solidarity.
Referring to the ensuing MHAADC polls, he cautioned that election times are one of unpredictable and that people should remain alert and be prepared for any eventuality, even as he hoped that the polls would be conducted peacefully in the district.
