Two arrested during search operation

Bishnupur, May 21 2022:
Two persons were arrested by a team of CDO, Bishnupur during a search operation conducted yesterday around 11 pm in the surrounding areas of Moirang Lamkhai, Churachandpur parking area.
The team carried out the search operation under the command of Subedar Y Shaktishen Singh, OC-CDO/BPR, under the supervision of Roni Mayengbam, MPS, Addl SP (Ops)/BPR and overall guidance of N Herojit Meetei, IPS, SP Bishnupur after receiving information from a source about some alleged valley based UG members threatening the shops at Moirang Lamkhai, Churachandpur parking area with a small gun.
The two arrested persons identified themselves as Haobijam Dilip Singh alias Dilipkumar alias Taibanganba (49) from Bishnupur Ward No 11 and Akhom Birendra Singh (53) from Phoijing Makha Leikai, Bishnupur.
They were reportedly arrested from Thamnapokpi Lai Haraopham area.
One .32 bore pistol along with one magazine loaded with 7 live rounds of .32mm ammunition and one i20 car were recovered from their possession after observing proper formalities.
The pistol was allegedly used in intimidating the general public.
Haobijam Dilip Singh also revealed that he was the chairman of KCP (Taibanganba) group which is presently under MoU with the government.
It may be noted that he was previously arrested in connection with the death of Thokchom Tony Singh who was shot dead during the night of March 3, 2018.He was released on bail under medical grounds.
The two arrested persons along with the seized items were reportedly handed over to Moirang PS for further necessary action.
