CCpur cops seize opium, Bpr Cdos nab KCP chief

Imphal, May 21 2022:
A team of district police led officer in-charge of Churachandpur police station inspector N Ingocha Singh on Saturday seized about 4.2 kg of contraband opium from the possession of one Bir Bahadur (35), son of Lal Bahadur of Old Gelmol village, near Young Pillar College, Kanan Veng, Tuibong, Churachandpur.
An FIR case has been registered against the arrested person and his associates for investigation.
On the other-hand, a team of Bishnupur police commando unit arrested chairman of KCP (Taiban-ganba) group, and another person with a firearm on Friday.
The arrested persons have been identified as KCP (Taibanganba) chairman Haobijam Dilip Singh alias Dilipkumar alias Taibanganba (49), son of (L) H Kunjababu Singh of Bishnupur Ward No 11, presently a resident of Langol Laimanai, and Akhom Birendra Singh (53), son of A Lukhoi Singh of Phoijing Makha Leikai, Bishnupur district.
The police team also seized one .32 Bore pistol, magazine with seven live rounds and one i20 car from their possession.
According to a report, the district police received information regarding some UG members threatening shopkeepers at Moirang Lamkhai, Churachandpur Parking area at gunpoint around 11 pm of Friday.
Based on the input, a Bishnupur district commando unit led by its OC subedar Y Shaktishen Singh conducted search operation in the nearby areas and arrested the accused persons from Thamnapokpi Lai Haraopham.
On further verification, H Dilip Singh disclosed that he is chairman of KCP (Taibanganba) group, which had signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government.
The arrested persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Moirang police station for further action.
