INC always against terror, asserts Ibobi

CLP leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has categorically stated that the Indian National Congress (INC) is a political party which has always stood firm against terrorism.
The 31st death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was observed as Anti-Terrorism Day at Congress Bhavan here today under the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) .
Led by O Ibobi, the gathering paid floral tributes to the photograph of Rajiv Gandhi.
CWC Member Gaikhangam, MPCC president K Meghachandra and many leaders of Congress Party's frontal organisations and cells attended the death anniversary function.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the Anti-Terrorism Day observance, O Ibobi claimed that INC is a political party which believes in non-violence.
The party always stands firm against any form of terrorism not only within the country but also across the world, he said.
Saying that the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi was a huge loss for the country, Ibobi said that the whole country has been observing the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi as Anti-Terrorism Day every year on May 21 .
Congress party is the oldest political party in the whole world which believes in non-violence.
It is a matter of pride for the Congress party that Rajiv Gandhi paved the way for 30 per cent reservation for women at the grassroots level, Ibobi remarked.
Had Rajiv Gandhi been alive today, he would have certainly moved necessary Bills for reservation of seats in both the Parliament and the State Assemblies, Ibobi said.
MPCC president K Meghachandra recalled that Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a suicide bomber of LTTE.
As a part of the commemorative event, MPCC office bearers distributed eatable items to the children of Yaibilen Children Home, Keibi Sanapat, Imphal East.
