Thoubal, May 21 2022:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Thoubal District Council has appealed the authorities concerned to take up immediate action to complete the construction of the academic block of Tentha High School, Wangjing.
A statement from Bhattacharyamayum Rakesh Sharma, vice-president, DESAM, Thoubal District Council has informed that a team from DESAM found innumerable inadequacies at Tentha High School during the course of an inspection visit carried out as part of their Mass Reformation Campaign.
The statement shared that the school has no teachers for English, Home Science and Computer Science.
The classrooms of this school are no better than stables with no walls and no space to hang whiteboards, the statement maintained.
Upon investigating, DESAM found that the academic block of the school had begun construction on March 7, 2018 but due to several controversies surrounding the matter, including being involved in a Court case, the construction never saw completion, the statement alleged.
DESAM stated that in the midst of these controversies, it is the students of Tentha High School who suffer the most.
As such, DESAM has urged the relevant authorities to complete the construction of the academic block so that students of this school may receive their education in a better environment more suited for academics.
The statement from DESAM also added that a practical and craft room had been constructed this year.
But DESAM claimed that the newly constructed room did not meet expected standards as the pillars were already cracking.
The statement also cautioned that the student body will place restrictions on further constructions if they are carried out without any quality control.
