CAU students leave for training in Philippines

Imphal, May 21 2022:
A team of 11 BSc (Agri) 4th year students of the College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal left for Philippines for a three month training at Zeigler Experiment Station, International Rice Research Institute, Los Banos, Philippines.
The programme is sponsored by Institutional Development Plan - National Agricultural Higher Education Project (IDP-NAHEP) and funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi through the World Bank.
The eleven selected students include two each from Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Telangana, and one from Sikkim.
They were selected based on academic performance and exam conducted at the college.
Dean of College of Agriculture, professor Indira Sarangthem flagged off the team from the college campus.
The students will undertake training in agriculture and related activities.
Earlier on Friday, an interaction programme was held between the selected students and faculty members in the presence of the dean.
The dean thanked principal investigators of IDP-NAHEP and CAU Imphal director of instructions Dr Soibam Basanta for providing such opportunity for the students to get exposure to international institutes of agricultural sciences like IRRI in their undergraduate level.
She also conveyed her gratitude to CAU vice-chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra for his encouragement and support in ensuring the project's effective implementation.
