Imphal, May 21 2022:
Protection and Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM) has urged the business community not to hike the price of essential items by taking undue advantage of prevailing flood situation.
In a release, PPCM convenor of publicity committee Laikhuram Jayenta noted that heavy downpour in the state caused flooding and landslides in several parts of the state thereby affecting transportation of essential goods.
There is suspicion that taking undue advantage of the situation, some businesspersons are not only selling items at higher rates but also expired products, he added.
Drawing the attention of the government on the matter, Jayenta said that they will inspect the markets while urging the people and all concerned to support its endeavour to check arbitrary hiking of prices.
