State level consultation on sustainable development goals held

Churachandpur, May 21 2022:
The 2nd State level multi-stakeholder consultation on sustainable development goals (SDGs) was held today at the auditorium of EBC Gospel Centenary Hall, Lamka in Churachandpur district today.
The event was organized by National Foundation for India (NFI), co-funded by the European Union and jointly hosted by Nest, InSIDE NE and IRDSO.
The event began with V Jamkhanpau, NFI Field Coordinator for Lamka highlighting on the agenda for the day and MK Lal Gualnam from NFI giving the keynote address.
The speech was followed by a presentation by N Kulkarani Devi, Director, Planning Department on Manipur State SDG Vision 2030 and its current status on ground.
The panel discussion was moderated by Thangkhanlal Ngaihte, Assistant Professor, Churachandpur Government College.
Panelist Babloo Loitongbam, Executive Director, Human Rights Alert spoke on developing local capabilities to accelerate SDGs localization while Dennis Lallienzuol, UN Peacebuilder spoke about engaging youth for building SDG awareness.
Rev B Chinkhengoupau, Child Co-ordinator, Evangelical Baptist Convention (EBC) delved on the role of civil society organizations and faith-based organizations in building peace, justice and strong institutions.
Mary Beth Sanate, Chief Functionary, Rural Woman Upliftment Society (RWUS) explored the topic of improving gender equality in a patriarchal tribal Christian society like Southern Manipur while Thokchom Surjit Singh, Project Director, Towards an Alternative Vision of Education, SST highlighted the various challenges and opportunities for implementation of NEP at local level.
The post-lunch session of the event was marked by a parallel thematic session on the 17 SDGs wherein the participants were divided into six groups, with each group made to prepare and present action plans based on six broad themes led by a facilitator each.
The event concluded with a prayer by T Vunglallian, educationist and principal, Lalpuithluaii Foundation School, Lamka.
